Allergies...

This picture is for all of you allergy sufferers out there! (Me included.) I love spring, but it still makes me kinda miserable! And supposedly this year is a bad year AND I live in a bad area for allergies...

Agito!

A shot of the "tough" Agito...

I must admit... I would really like this shot if it weren't for the fact you can see his "good" eye peeping thru below the eye patch. This is what happens when you are taking pictures semi-furtively in the street... Things get a bit hurried... mistakes happen... sigh.

A New Home

This weekend I got this cool new shelf thing for my Pinkys to live in. I originally was thinking of repainting it (probably just plain black) to fit in with my decor better, and maybe to remove the tin plating (they come out easily) and to make it look more like a dollhouse inside. But... laziness wins out. Stripping the paint seems really hard. Plus I really love those tin plates! So maybe I'll just concentrate on making it look a bit more dollhousey inside. It's just too bad that it is a little too narrow to put much by way of furniture in. It's about the size of a medicine cabinet. I found it at this dingy home goods/clothing discount retail store called A.J. Wright. They're sort of like TJ Maxxx. So it was a good bargain too!

Welcome Agito!

My latest photostory. I finally got some furniture - a living room set, of course, to accommodate all the minature food I have been collecting! It's from Plan Toys, and it's pretty nice stuff. The table was originally a bit too tall, but I cut about a 1/2" or so off the legs so it looked a little more in scale. The chairs were already perfect.

Oh, and I got Agito!!

Ringo: My old friend Agito is moving here! Everyone should get together for dinner, so you can meet him!
Akito: His name is AGito?!

Suu: Do you think we have everything ready?

Hikaru: I think we are all set. Do you think it looks weird to have the dessert out at the same time as the main course?
Arisu: You worry too much.
Arc: I'm on the wrong end of the table. The dessert is over there!

Suu: Welcome Agito - I hope you like everything!

Suu: Oh! I know, we forgot utensils!!
Arc: I'm still too far away from the dessert!
Akito: So... dude, AGito?! I'm AKito! We have a problem!!!
Agito: Oh, that's ok. You can call me Alix!

Suu (whispering to Ringo): Isn't Agito/Alix just a little too easy-going?
Ringo: ....not always....
Hikaru (whispering to arisu): That name has nothing to do with the other name... Plus, isn't it a girls' name?
Arisu (whispering back): Whatever, at least it will keep Akito quiet. Too many names beginning with "A" tho....
Arc: Wait a minute... this is back where I started!  Wah!

Akito: YES!!! I win!!
Suu: ....  *rolls eyes*

Spring!

Just some pictures with flowers...
Unfortunately a couple are out of focus - I think it is because the sun was at a funny angle. And so was the garden - it was actually above my head! I was out in Watertown, and in some places the sidewalk and street are below the level of the lawns of the houses. It's sort of odd that way. Whoever's garden this was, it was beautiful!! (and I hope they weren't looking out their window and wondering what the heck I was doing... hahaha)

Non-Pinky Doll Post 1

A little while ago I mentioned that it was Girls' Day (Hina Matsuri) in Japan. If you don't know and don't feel like clicking the 'back' link here, this is a holiday that is celebrated by displaying a special set of dolls. Well, on monday I was somewhat surprised to be walking by an antique store (on my way to get a sandwich at Hi-Rise Bakery - yum!) and see a set of Hina Matsuri dolls in the window! The store was closed, so I just took their picture through the window. Which... actually was all I would've been able to do even if the store was open. The little note (that you can't really read in the photo) said the set was being sold for $750!!! Ouch!

I have no idea why this picture is coming out sideways (it wasn't taken sideways, and it doesn't display sideways anywhere else!) and I don't know how to fix it therefore either. Sorry!

A Weird Hat

This is a continuation of the earlier "Christmas Date" story that I am finally getting around to reposting here (after posting it to the Pinky St forum a while ago). I took these photos during a major blizzard... the crazy hat I made got a bit beat up (lost a pompom) but it was too cold to do anything about it! I felt like I had accomplished a lot just to snap the pictures in a hurry and run back in the house!

I've got a fairly regular cast of named Pinkys - Suu is Suu and Arisu is Reina (who changes her hair a lot!), and they were both in the "date" story with Hikaru (Rui) and Akito (Sakura), who also get used all the time. Moe and Athena, however, who appear in this story, don't get used a lot. So I'm not as sure I like their names. But I used Meimi for Moe, so I'll keep that. I'm not sure what I'm going to call Athena still... she was Athena when I first posted this, and she's still stuck being Athena, even tho I know I want to ultimately change it!

Meimi: "Where's Suu? Isn't she supposed to be meeting us here? It's so
snowy, I hope she isn't having a lot of trouble getting here..." :pdrop2:
Arisu: "Nah, I'm sure Suu will make it here any minute. A little (ok, a
lot) of snow won't stop her!"

Athena: "Hey! What's that over there?"

Athena: "Something weird... See!

Arisu: "I think it's... moving?" :pwtf:
Meimi: "It's getting bigger!! I'm a little scared - should we run?"
Arisu: "Don't be ridiculous. I mean, what could it be - a snow shark?" *rolls eyes*
Meimi: .... *sweatdrop*
Athena: "Yeah, but what IS it?"

Athena: "Oh! Suu, it was you!!"

Athena: "Where did you get the weird hat?"
Suu: "Look, it was a gift. And it's not that weird. So... are we all set to head out?"
Athena: "Yeah! But..."
Meimi (to Athena): "psst... drop it!"

Suu: "Don't tell the others, but the hat is a gift from Akito!" (blushing)

Pinky Meet!

This past weekend, I went to IKEA to meet up with a couple of other Pinky collectors. The Stoughton IKEA is relatively new, and the first IKEA ever in Massachusetts. I was excited to go because IKEA has very cheap efficiency lightbulbs! An odd thing to be excited about, you may think, BUT our lights are all ceiling lights, and they are really high. I so hate changing the lightbulbs, because I have to balance precariously on a footstool. So the less I have to change the lightbulbs, the better! Plus, how can you not have a warm fuzzy feeling about energy efficiency? (seriously!)

I'd never been to Stoughton, but apparently this particular area is the Land of the Giant Stores. There's a Costco, a Home Depot, a Christmas Tree Shoppe and of course the IKEA. All of which are larger than life. I wish I had a photo of driving in (or out) but I was too busy trying not to get lost and accidentally drive into the gardening section of the Home Depot or something. Plus all those big stores wouldn't fit into a single photo anyway.

But here's a picture of IKEA's entrance. I also got lost in the parking lot coming out - not because I couldn't remember where I parked (I carefully noted what section I was in, thank you very much) but because I couldn't figure out where the heck the staircase was. Fortunately IKEA had helpful traffic directors in their parking lot, one of whom set me straight. And also got *very* excited about the idea that they could put a sign up about the stairs. *VERY* excited. I think perhaps the poor thing had been breathing exhaust fumes a little too long...

Somehow the first department I got dumped into was the kids department, where I saw this adorable guy:

He's a cushion/beanbag chair! Fortunately I am too big and my apartment is too small, otherwise I might've ended up with one of these...

After some frantic lightbulb hunting/shopping, it was Pinky meet time in the cafe!

Jinx's glasses are even cuter in real life than they are in the photo. So delicate!

Apparently this bottle cap was verrrrry interesting, and needed to be closely watched...

My Arc explores the lovely and completely unnecessary mugs I was about to purchase:

On the way out, I saw this really cute hanging dragonfly light/mobile. Probably a good thing I was in a hurry to get out of there at that point, or I might've had to go back to buy one...
