Additional Sanrio Christmas Items

Another thing I got to do while I was on my Thanksgiving vacation was to finish poking around at the various Targets to see if there was any additional Sanrio Christmas items that I hadn't been able to get photos of. It turns out there were - I found the Christmas "bells" that one of my commenters here had mentioned and I found some stockings. So I'll be posting those photos here.

I also checked out the Sanrio Christmas stuff at the Sanrio stores - most of it you can see on their website, and due to the difficulty of taking photos inside the Sanrio stores (they *really* don't want you to, for whatever reason!) I don't have many photos anyway. I will take photos of the stuff I bought, however - that will probably be my next post. I haven't had time to take photos of my purchases yet!

As a bit of a preview, though, here is a picture of the Times Square store window display. You can see a lot of the holiday plushes in here...

The "winter coat" plushies are similar to last year, but they were hard to find last year, so I am glad people get another chance! (they aren't exactly the same, but they are similar). If you look closely, you can see Kitty in a pair of white bunny ears - that's the plushie I ended up buying. I am unclear of the connection between Christmas and fairy tales, but the Kitty in the red hood and gingham is Little Red Riding Hood. She flips over to be the wolf too (her head in the wolf costume is hidden by the skirt. When she is the wolf, the red riding hood head is hidden by the skirt) I remember seeing these last year at some point too - and with more fairy tales than just red riding hood. So I am unclear on how this ended up being a 'featured' product for Christmas! Oh well. I really like Red Riding Hood art, so I was tempted by this, but I didn't get her. I am trying hard to cut down on my plushies, and I felt like I could live without it in the end...

Speaking of items where I don't see the Christmas connection, let's move on to the Target pix. For some reason these lamps were in the Christmas aisle:

Really, I have to wonder if they were just filling up space!

These are the aforementioned Christmas 'bells'. They don't have any clappers, so they don't make any noise. This is disappointing! I understand cutting costs, but how much extra would it have cost to make them so they could ring? Bah. I didn't buy any as a result. Maybe if they go on clearance.

This one, with the wings, is my favorite!

I also spotted a couple of stockings, finally. They have had them every year, so I didn't know if this was the year they gave up - it seemed unlikely! I did think this year's offerings were kinda boring tho.

They had this in both pink and red stocking color. You can kinda see the red one in the background there. For some reason I had it in my head that they also had white, but I may be confused.

This one is more fun, and if I were to buy one, it would be this one:

I like the one I've already got, however. It looks like this:
My Hello Kitty Stocking

While I'm padding this post with old photos, here's another stocking design for comparison...

Alternate HK Stocking

This one is from 2008 too, so I don't remember what last year's looked like. I guess I didn't get a photo? That seems wrong, but I don't see it in my flickr account, so who knows.

And then, just a couple of other non-Sanrio Christmas items that I noticed...

First off, these little Disney dresses.

They are ornaments, but they are also fully sewed clothes, so you could easily put them on a doll! I think they are stitched a bit to stay flat, but I think they'd be easily modified to be wearable. I think they might be more like dal-sized. They were $6, so I thought I would wait to see if they go on sale/clearance. However, if you are a bigger disney fan than me, you might want to go grab some!

And then finally, just a couple of Paperchase items over at Borders

The Christmas tree/snowman/'meatball' (seriously, what is that?) is a matryoshka-type nesting doll item. I think there were only the 3 pieces tho. Next to it is the 'meatball' (ok, they are probably cookies?) in an earmuff form. That's pretty cute! Paperchase also has new versions of last year's glittery deer and some snowmen and penguins of some sort of wiry fur substance. They also had some needle-felted-type animals. I bought one of the deer, I'll post a photo of that soon too.

Ok, clearly my next project (besides actually decorating!) is to take photos of all the stuff I have bought!
