Happy Halloween!!
Just a couple of spooky Evil shots for Halloween...

It's the Glass Pumpkin, Pinky Street!
Ok, sorry, there's no Charlie Brown to be found in these photos, I just wanted a cute title... ^^;
These photos were taken a few weeks ago now, but I wanted to make sure I got them posted before Halloween came and went! (I'm cutting it pretty close... XD)
For a bit of background info - every year, MIT's glass lab holds a glass pumpkin sale to raise money for their program. Years ago, when I first came to Boston, this was a low key event taking place over two days. They would set up the pumpkins in the field, like it was a pumpkin patch, and people could wander through and pick out their pumpkins. Every year, however, it seems to get more and more popular, and now, even tho they try to keep it cute and nice, it's pretty much madness. Basically all the pumpkins get snatched up in a half hour!!
Various people have various strategies to get a good pumpkin, but the best one is just to get there early. So here's "new rei" surveying the scene an hour before the sale starts:

Nowadays they hand out tickets so that they don't have people in line for hours and hours, but here's what it looked like from my spot in the line once we all lined up:

Ohara: "Hey! How did I get trapped in this box thing! Let me out! I need to get a pumpkin!!"
Luckily for pumpkin fans, they do a 'preview night' the day before the sale so you can at least go and appreciate all the beautiful pumpkins.

Ako: "Whee! We're here! Let's go into the tent and take tons of pictures!!"

Ako: "Hey, this one is pretty!"

My Pinky Army
My Pinky collection in its natural habitat. More or less. The ones in front of the cabinet actually live on another bookshelf normally. Once again I'm a little slow to post, so more recruits have arrived since I took this, but it's not a bad representation of my collection...

A Day at the Oyster Festival
Since they were dressed for it, I took my new repaint yukata girls along to a summer festival in my (original) hometown. They were joined there by Arc and Avril, who also dressed for the occasion. What was the occasion? The Milford Oyster Festival!
I actually have no idea *why* we have an oyster festival, and to be honest I see little connection to oysters beyond one or two stalls that sell them to eat, but hey, it's been going on since before I was born and summer festivals are always fun!

Evil Arrives in Boston...
In addition to my new camera, I also received my "Evil" Pinky in the mail. Evil is a character from the Pinky St gameboy game - Kira Kira Music Hour. She is the second character to be released as a figure. The first one, of course, was Pucchi. Pucchi came with the game itself. Evil came with the soundtrack.

Let's go to the Carnival!
Recently I broke my trusty PowerShot A520, so I had to upgrade my camera. I was thinking of doing so anyway, so I guess this speeded things along. I am now the proud owner of a PowerShot S3 IS. It actually does feel quite a bit different to use, but it's lots of fun!
Anyway, my new camera and I went to the carnival this past weekend. I wasn't there long - just sort of run over after work before heading out of town - but it seemed like a good place to give the camera a test run!

This is Suki, Arc's twin sister (not her *evil* twin - they both wanted to be evil! :pwink2: ). She and Midori went to the traveling carnival near where I work. Suki can't wait 'til it opens!

Suki isn't as much of a glutton as her twin sister Arc, so she heads straight to the scariest ride and leave Midori to check out the food...

Meanwhile, Suki seems to have found the Mother Ship. Watch out universe!

This thing was so weird. Usually they're just pirate boats or something... The pharoah head is just scary!
For the kids, if they couldn't ride the pharoah's boat, they could ride the crazy bus. No word on whether DW from Arthur would be there.

I was really amused by the fact that the french fry stand went to great pains to assure you that no trans fats were in the fries there! Because people eating carnival food are all about the health. XD
